What's in your cookie jar? If you are like me the answer is nothing, because cookies never stay around long enough to make it into the jar around here! Fortunatly for the waistline, today's post is not about cookies. The delightful morsel I am thinking of is not eatable, but offers more sweetness than any old cookie, its scripture! By filling our "cookie jar" with scripture, we can reach in and graze on scripture morsels throughout the day. Meditating on positive truths really lifts my mood and keeps me on track.
These truths have filled my "cookie jar" this week:
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
- The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Galatians 5:22
- Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4
- No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Neat idea, instead of reaching for a fattening snack, reach for a scripture to feed your soul!!
