“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:5 (NIV)
God is not limited by your limitations. Your overwhelming circumstances do not overwhelm God. The challenges in your environment are not impossible for God. God can see that which you cannot see. God knows that which you do not know.
God will provide nourishment and strength in the midst of your obstacles. God will provide manna when you experience the desert of the daily grind. His protective care will sustain you in battle. His grace will match the need of each moment. God will anoint your head with the oil of gladness and the oil of security. God’s power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).
Your desperation for God and your dependency upon God releases His provision. As you place your faith in God’s ability to meet your needs, His provision will cause your cup to overflow. The depth of your need will never surpass the endless supply of God’s storehouse.
Honor the Lord with what He has given you. Be a good steward with everything God has entrusted to you. Give thanks for His daily bread. Praise Him for bringing you this far. Acknowledge His sufficiency.
Trust Him to meet your every need (Php. 4:19). Find comfort in the fact that God knows what you need before you ask Him (Mt. 6:8). Allow the Lord to shepherd you through the life He has for you.
Take a moment to write down the specific items that have weighed heavily upon your heart. What has been bothering you? What has been consuming your thoughts and your energy? Submit each item to your faithful Shepherd in prayer.
Pursuing God,
Stephen Trammell

The Land of Nod
It's a cold rainy night here in Houston. Elise is finally sleeping peacefully (she is sick with bronchitis, but recovering quickly). The hubby and I are watching the 250th episode of "What Not to Wear" on TLC! Hubby says, I am not really watching the show, as I am multitasking and doing some window shopping too. Men don't understand our super power of multitasking!
I have navigated my way to The Land of Nod. Here are a few fun finds!

What is harder than giving a cat medicine?
Giving a two-year-old her medicine via oral syringe!
We made a visit to the doctor today, because Elise has been fighting a cough and cold symptoms since Sunday. It turns out she has Bronchitis. She is still very active and happy, but that cough just won't leave her alone. So fast forward a few hours later and Elise and I are in a stand off over this little syringe full of pink cherry flavored medicine. I try reason, distraction, bribery (yes I am not proud, just desperate!), nothing worked. Finally little by little, through the crying, kicking and screaming, I got the medicine down. I was covered in remnants of pink cherry liquid and Elise was fine. This is yet another new phase of toddler that I am not used to. In the past if we needed to give Elise medicine, she would gladly take it without protest. Now, we are faced with the challenge of 4 more days of fighting down medicine. Wish us luck!
Does anyone have a great technique on how to get a toddler to take their medicine?
I hope this week finds you well.

"I love you because..."
I just learned of the sweetest idea to celebrate Valentine's Day with little ones! It is so simple, and is sure to make them feel special. Make a card to your little one and complete this thought..."I love you because..."
Here are some suggestions from our preschool department at church. We are doing this for our class of three-year-olds.

I love you because…
You are a good puzzle worker!
You have a happy smile!
God made you special!
You are kind to your friends!

For an added treat, wouldn't it be nice to use this idea as a count down to Valentine's Day. You could start off with a large poster that reads "I love you because...". Then below this leave a space to count the reasons why. Each day you could post a new "I love you because..." sign. Our sweet girl loves to collect stickers, among various other trinkets. I think she would enjoy seeing her love notes grow each day too!
I will be posting my finished product for Elise as we get closer to Valentine's Day...Remember it's just around the corner, so get crafting!

Soulful Sunday
Some of my favorite times with Elise are the still moments in which she is all ears to what I have to say, or in many cases sing. We sing a lot of different songs, all of which she pretty much knows by heart. These days, I keep going back to this song below.
"I Love You Lord" by Laurie Klein
"I love you Lord and I lift my voice, to worship you oh my soul rejoice. Take joy my king, in what you hear, may it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear."
This serves as a simple reminder to slow down, and as my mom always says, "keep the main thing, the main thing". To know that God is in control and to keep centered in Him.

What is Furoshiki?
To put it simply, it is fabric gift wrap. Also a great alternative to the plastic shopping bag. Click here for more on Furoshiki, and visit CHEWINGTHECUD for great fabrics and other fun finds.
